Ntombazane, is a song about the different challenges young girls face in South Africa.
Rapper, Comedian and Radio Host Jovislash has recently released his debut album Declared & Decreed earlier this year after a successful series of singles and mixtapes. Ntombazane is the first official single from the album and it talks about the different struggles young women face, issues such as sexual harassment, drugs, suicide and social pressure. Ntobamzane addresses the escalating cases of femicide and gender-based violence in South Africa and it serves as an awareness song that gives hope to young women to keep strong and awake.
The song features an emerging soul-vocalist called Seedmo who sings the chorus and carries the track very well. “I actually decided to release this song just before women’s month, to raise an awareness on femicide, I also started a platform called Ko 21 recently, where musicians can live- stream their performances for free and I’m providing sound, stage cameras and free internet. For the month of August, which is Woman’s Month the platform is fully dedicated to female musicians who would like to go live and promote their music” said Jovislash.
